Using illumination to re-imagine forgotten spaces in the city
Let’s graffiti with light…Daily interaction in our cities is a frequent and diverse occurrence that sparks interest, conflict and conversation. This project was initiated to seek out and create such conditions using a portable and interactive light installation. This project sought to provide an alternative justification to project initiation.
Artists may utilise art-practice to create new environments within cities, thus diversifying our own interaction with the city. Research of micro-generation within cities has been carried out in collaboration with engineers in the city. This primarily observed the potential of wind energy in producing urban light. Setting up in various unused and derelict sites provided new interest and intrigue into much forgotten spaces. The installation was designed to be temporary in physicality but remnant in memory.
